Privacy Policy

Persia Plumbing website is owned by Persia Plumbing & Heating LTD., carrying on business as Persia Plumbing & Heating ("we", "us", "our"), a licensed plumbing and heating contractor serving Metro Vancouver, British Columbia.

We are responsible for the personal information in our custody and under our control, and we have adopted this Privacy Policy to explain what we collect, why we collect it, who sees it, and what you can do about it. Please read it before using our website or engaging us to perform work. If you have a question, a request, or a complaint about how we handle your information, write to us at Hello@persiaplumbing.ca, and we will respond within thirty days.

WHAT THIS POLICY COVERS

This policy applies to information we collect through the Persia Plumbing website, by telephone
and text message, by email, and in person while we are performing work. It
applies to customers, to prospective customers, and to anyone who contacts us. It
does not apply to any other company's website, product or service, including
those we may link to.

THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Most of what we hold, you give us directly. When you call, text, or complete a form on this website, we collect your name, telephone number, email address, the service address, a billing address where it differs, a description of the work you are asking about, any access instructions you provide, and your appointment preferences.

A further body of information is created in the course of serving you. That includes records of the calls, texts and emails between us, your appointment history, the quotes and invoices we issue and the payments we receive against them, our technicians' notes, and photographs of the work area taken before, during and after the work.

Finally, a small amount of information is collected automatically when you visit Persia Plumbing website. That is your IP address, your browser and device type, the pages you view, and the page that referred you to us. Where we use cookies or similar technology to do this, we describe it under "Cookies" below.

We do not collect more than we need, and we do not ask for information that is not connected to the work. You are free to browse this website without telling us who you are; you will simply be unable to use the parts of it that exist to contact us or book an appointment.

WHY WE COLLECT IT

We collect and use personal information in order to answer your enquiry and give you a quote; to schedule, perform and guarantee the work; to send you confirmations, reminders and arrival notices; to follow up on a quote you askedus for; to invoice you and collect payment; to ask you for a review once a job is complete; to keep the records we are required by law to keep for tax, warranty, safety and permitting purposes; and to understand and improve how we run the
business.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it, trade it, or disclose it so that anyone else may market to you.

HOW WE HANDLE YOUR CALLS AND MESSAGES

Calls to our published number may be answered by an automated assistant, which takes your name, number, address and a description of the problem, and can book an appointment for you. If you ask whether you are speaking with a person, it will tell you truthfully that you are not, and you may ask to speak with a person at any point, at which the call will be transferred or returned.

We do not record calls by default. If call recording is ever enabled, you will hear an announcement to that effect at the beginning of the call, and continuing the call is your consent to being recorded. If you would prefer not to be recorded, tell us and we will not record you.

If you provide your mobile number and give consent where we ask for it, we may send you text messages about your service: appointment confirmations, reminders, arrival notices, follow-ups on a quote, and a request for a review after a completed job. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe, or HELP for help. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase.

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation, we send commercial electronic messages only where we have your express consent, or where you have contacted us or done business with us and the law implies your consent for a limited period. We keep a record of when and how each consent was given, and of every opt-out, because we are required to be able to demonstrate both. Withdrawing consent to messages never affects work already booked.

PHOTOGRAPHS OF WORK

Our technicians photograph the work area before, during and after a job. These photographs form part of the service record and are used to document the condition we found, to support a warranty claim, and to settle any question about what was found or what was done.

We may also use photographs of completed work to show the kind of work we do, on our website, within a quote, or on our social media pages. Where we do, we show the work itself and never the interior of your home beyond the work area, and we never show your name, your address, or anything else that identifies you or your property. If you would prefer that we did not use photographs of your job in this way, tell us and we will not.

WHO WE SHARE IT WITH

We disclose personal information only in the circumstances set out here.

We use third parties to operate our telephone system, our scheduling, our messaging, our payment processing, our accounting and our email. These service providers receive only what they need in order to provide that service to us, are contractually bound to protect it, and may not use it for their own purposes.

We share what is necessary to complete your job with subcontracted trades and suppliers, and, where the work requires a permit, with the relevant municipal or provincial authority.

We will disclose information where the law requires or permits it: in response to a valid legal demand or similar process; in order to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim; or where disclosure is necessary to prevent harm.

If we sell or merge the business, customer records may transfer to the buyer, who will remain bound by this policy.

We do not disclose your information for any other purpose without your consent.

WHERE YOUR INFORMATION IS HELD

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. Where that is the case, the information is subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement and regulatory authorities. We use providers that commit contractually to protect it to a standard comparable to our own.

HOW LONG WE KEEP IT

We keep job, invoice and warranty records for at least seven years, which is the period we are required to retain financial records and long enough to answer a warranty question. We keep call and message records for two years, unless they are connected to an ongoing job, dispute or claim. We keep consent and opt-out records permanently, because we are required to be able to show both that we had permission and that we honoured its withdrawal. Records that are no longer needed are securely destroyed or anonymized.

COOKIES

Our website uses cookies to make the site function and to help us understand how it is used. You may refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings, although parts of the site may not work as well if you do. We do not use cookies to build an advertising profile of you.

YOUR RIGHTS

You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate, withdraw a consent you have previously given subject to legal and contractual limits, ask us to delete information we no longer need, and complain to us about how your information has been handled.

To exercise any of these, contact Hello@Persiaplumbing.ca or +1(778)868-2003. We will respond within thirty days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, at oipc.bc.ca.

HOW WE PROTECT IT

Access to personal information is limited to those who need it in order to do their job. Our systems are password-protected and information is encrypted in transit. We do not store credit card numbers; payments are processed by a payment provider. No system of transmission or storage is perfect and we do not claim that ours is, but where a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you we will notify you and the Commissioner as the law requires.

LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

Our website may contain links to sites that we do not own or control, such as a manufacturer's warranty page, a supplier, a payment provider, a review platform or a municipality. We are not responsible for the content or the privacy practices of those sites, and this policy ceases to apply once you leave the Persia Plumbing website. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any website you visit from ours. Where a booking, payment or review step is hosted by a third party on our behalf, that provider handles your information as a service provider as described above, and this policy continues to apply to whatever we receive back from them.

CHILDREN

Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of nineteen.

THE LAW WE FOLLOW

We handle personal information in accordance with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act where it applies, and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

If we change this policy we will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date above. Where a change is material, we will bring it to your attention.
